CTI MEMBERS LEAD YOUNG SCHOLAR WORKSHOP ON ASTROBIOLOGY AND SOCIETY

by Joshua Mauldin

As part of the current Inquiry on the Societal Implications of Astrobiology, CTI held an Emerging Scholars Workshop May 31-June 4 here at Luce Hall. Led by CTI Members Lucas Mix and Frederick Simmons, the workshop was directed at post-doctoral researchers and doctoral students interested in astrobiology and society. Among the participants was Ciara Reyes, who recently completely her PhD in molecular biology at the University of Michigan, and Andreas Losch, postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Space and Habitability at the University of Bern (Switzerland) who is interested in interdisciplinary questions in science and religion as well as theology and Jewish-Christian dialogue. The workshop provided a fruitful opportunity for CTI members to share their research findings with a new generation of scholars.
