Theologian Celia Deane-Drummond gave a CTI outreach lecture and graduate seminar on theology and human evolution at EST, the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Sao Leopoldo, Brazil in October.
Drawing on her research in residence at CTI as co-leader of our Inquiry on Evolution & Human Nature, 2012-13, she presented her work to a well-attended audience of faculty members and students. Her presentations were simultaneously translated into Portuguese, which aided the lively discussion that accompanied both sessions.
This is the first in a series of international outreach lectures to be given by scholars in CTI’s three-year project on new interdisciplinary approaches in theological inquiry, supported by the John Templeton Foundation. CTI is grateful to Dr. Deane-Drummond, University of Notre Dame, for sharing the fruits of her work at CTI with the theological community in Brazil. Future lectures will be delivered in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
