WILLIAM BARRY IN CONVERSATION ON PODCAST

by Joshua Mauldin
Dr. William Barry is the Chief Historian as NASA, a position he has held since September 2010. Barry visited CTI in 2017 to attend the Spring Symposium in the Inquiry on the Societal Implications of Astrobiology. During that event he had a conversation with Joshua Mauldin and Susan Schneider for the Fresh Thinking Podcast.

Barry joined NASA in 2001 after retiring from a 22 year career in the United States Air Force. While serving in the Air Force he alternated between flying assignments in the KC-135 air refueling tanker and duty on the faculty of the Department of Political Science at the United States Air Force Academy. A graduate, with honors, of the United States Air Force Academy (1979), he also holds a Masters Degree from Stanford University (1987) and a Doctorate from Oxford University (1996). His doctoral dissertation, “The Missile Design Bureaux and Soviet Manned Space Policy 1953-1970” won the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics History Manuscript Award in 2000.
